MJCI OVERVIEW

To every trade is a seal that bears the years, all hundred or so of them, of hard work and dedication behind the company throughout its run trials and triumphs.  And to every company arrives a year that marks substantial growth after the start of an upward trend in the business.  It is a period that may go unnoticed in its history, but in which it may safely hoist up a banner of its seal for the world to see.
Every year proved to be a difficult year for the nation.  The global crisis affected our economy and we had to deal with unprecedented natural disaster.  Not withstanding the above, Manila Jockey Club, Inc. demonstrated its vitality by strengthening its operation performance and financial results, without losing sight of its social responsibility.

COMPANY HISTORY:
Ever since its inception in 1867, the Manila Jockey Club, has lead the way in Philippine horse racing.  The first racing club to be established in the whole of Southeast Asia, its founders read like whose Who of Philippine society.  Highly exclusive, the club originally catered to Manila’s elite and was primary organized for fun and recreation.
Eventually, as the horse racing grew more democratic, what was once an exclusive domain of the rich opened itself up to anyone with a love of the sport.  In 1937 the Club became listed corporation.  By the time the sixties rolled around, the club had evolved into a world class institution, involving itself in regional meets and even hosting the Asian Racing Conference several times in the years to come.
At the start of the new millennium, and under the stewardship of a Filipino group headed by Atty. Alfonso Reyno Jr., the Club met the new century head-on, taking the lead in every aspect of advancement and expansion.  It embraced new technology with updated computerization, and expanded its reach by growing its OTB stations to cover neighboring provinces and even started to make its way across the country.
This year it continues its successful run by pioneering the first horsing community in Asia taking horse racing out of the tracks and leading the way for the creation of an entire horsing and leisure community shaped entirely around the horse, both literally and figuratively.
